Holiday House on Water?
Many people won't buy a holiday house because they don't want to manage two houses. That's two houses to clean and maintain. The difference between the house and luxury boating is that if you imagine what a house costs to maintain multiply that by ten and that's what a luxury boat costs to run. Also buying a holiday house you would expect the value of the house to go up in value over the years and you would probably be right. However if you were told there is a holiday house and it floats in the most corrosive environment on the planet, salt water, you may use it up to 22 days a year and the maintenance bills will be huge. You are told upfront and that your floating house will be worth half the value in 3 years time would you buy it?
Since the GFC, many banks no longer provide finance for Luxury Boats. The banks know that luxury boats have a fraction of the resale value and will only provide finance if the loan is secured by property assets.
With a boat membership you don't have the worries about financing, the time to maintain the boat, clean the boat and the resale value of the boat. You just have the fun and we take care of the rest!
