Why we moved from Anchorage Marina
As of the 15th of November we moved our boating operation from Anchorage Marina, Williamstown to New Quay Marina at Docklands.
The move was a great success. Our clients are very excited with the move. We changed locations because of many factors:
- Docklands is where all the action is. It's buzzing with activity and it's close to lots of restaurants. Our members can choose to stay on our Luxury Boats overnight without the need to go anywhere.
- Most of our clients are based on this side of the bay, moving has resulted in cutting down travel times up to 20 minutes.
- New Quay, Docklands does not have the same navigation challenges at Anchorage Marina. Its extremely difficult to get out of berth pens if its a strong northerly or southerly wind. You can quickly get into trouble at Anchorage. We have seen berthing cleats get ripped out of hulls on the larger boats as a result of the conditions
- It's easy to run aground if you don't obey the navigation markers at Anchorage. Not much room for error. The channel into anchorage can get as low as 1.6 meters on a low tide.
- Navigating into Anchorage at night can be a scary exercise.
- Docklands offers safer cruising opportunities all year round if the conditions are wild in the Bay.
