The Docklands based Pleasure Cruising Club is backing the Cancer Council Victoria’s ‘Paddle Across the Bay’ fundraising program by providing a small fleet of boats and The Boss, a 47-foot luxury cruiser as a safety net for hundreds of board paddlers.
Gary Freeman, Manager of the Pleasure Cruising Club said the fleet support would shadow the 400 stand up paddlers from Brighton to Port Melbourne, a ten-kilometre journey taking between 1.5 to 2 hours.
“As a cancer survivor, I have experienced first-hand the important work of the Cancer Council in raising funds for research, prevention and support, and the Pleasure Boat Cruising Club is urging the community to support the ‘Paddle Across the Bay’.

Ceasar Aldea from Paddle Across the Bay for Cancer Council Victoria welcomed the support of the Pleasure Cruising Club saying this added an important safety net for paddlers enabling them to relax and enjoy the unique stand up paddle across the Bay.
“Safety is one of major aspects of the event and having a fleet of boats donated to support this fundraising project for Cancer Victoria is invaluable,” Mr Aldea said.
